In ancient india ‘Kos’ was the unit of measuring distance. So, ‘84 Kos’ means 252 kilometers long pilgrimage of Braj region that includes Vrindavan, and its 12 vanas (forests), 24 upvanas (groves). This journey also includes numerous holy places along the banks of the divine River Yamuna , the sacred hill Govardhan, Mathura (birth place of Lord Krishna), Mahavan, Baldeo, KusumSarovar, Barsana&Nandgaon.

This Yatra brings an insight into the entire life journey of Lord Krishna, the places where Lord Krishna born and brought up, did his Lela’s etc. This journey also gives the Punya (blessings) of the char dhamYatra as once Nandji and Yashodha Mata expressed their desire before Lord Krishna to go for char dhamyatra. Lord Krishna for their convenience created all the Char Dhams in this sacred Braj region of 84 Kos.

Vrindavan is the ideal place to make a base for this journey as there are good Ashrams, Hotels available for stay and it’s the center of Braj region.

NOTE: Please note that this Yatra can be done by walking or by car. PaidalPadhYatra (Walking pilgrimage) usually takes 21 days and by in car it usually takes 7 days. But if you are staying for a shorter duration, then this Yatra can also be done in shorter duration, but minimum 3 to 5 days are required. The most suitable time to visit Braj region is from October to March. Usually we start the journey by car in morning and return back to Vrindavan in evening. In case of walking pilgrimage one has to stay at different place every day.
