Save Ganga campaign
The Ganges is the life-line of India. Indian society and culture without theGanga is like a fish out of water. In spiritual domain Ganga is the very important, one cannot even imagine to perform any ritual of Hinduism withoutthe Ganga Water. Our sacred cities like Haridwar, Varanasi, Prayagraj (Sangam-Allahabad) etc. are Holi only because of the Ganges. This Kumbh festival is a great occasion for us to realize importance of Mother Ganga in our life and do the best possible to save her from all possible threats.
Water-quality education
We are active for last 10 years in the conservation of rivers and generating awareness about the concept of ‘water-quality’ among people. Our short programs normally include Clean ups of lakes and ponds and demonstration of concept of water-quality with help of modern equipments. We have experienced that, by generating awareness about the water quality, it becomes easier for communities to identify the invisible impurities in the water and avoid uses of contaminated water for drinking to lead a healthier life. During Kumbh Mela,we will organize programs to demonstrate the concept of ‘water-quality’ at multiple locations to generate awareness.
Waste Management during and After Kumbh
During Kumbh festival a large quality of solid and organic waste is generated. It consists of flowers, Clothing, Hoardings, Banners, waste food material, materials used in Rituals, Vegetables and Kitchen waste. Sometimes, this waste also enters Ganga and results in increase pollution. After Kumbh Mela lot of solid waste used in construction of temporary camps is also left unused.
We will try to convert organic waste into some useful substance. We are working on possible solutions with Suitable technical partners to effectively manage waste in a productive manner.
